
I️ntroduction to Cattle Sorting Clinic
Whether you're brand new to cattle sorting or looking to build a solid foundation, this beginner-friendly clinic is designed for both horse and rider. Join experienced instructors Gail Curlis and Connie Spurgeon for a full day of hands-on learning at Cocolalla Ranch.
The day is divided into two 3-hour instructional sessions with a lunch break from 12:00–1:00 PM, giving riders plenty of time to rest, ask questions, and connect with fellow participants.
What you Will Learn
This clinic focuses on the fundamental skills needed to begin cattle sorting with confidence, including:

Following a cow with confidence as a horse-and-rider team

Reading cattle behavior—learning when a cow is likely to move or stop

Sweeping the gate effectively

Team communication and working together during a sorting run

Knowing when to hold your position and when to trade places with your teammate
With personalized instruction and plenty of practice, you'll leave with practical skills you can continue to build on long after the clinic.

Payment can be made by venmo @venette-humphries or by cash drop off at the ranch. If doing cash drop off, please put it in one of the envelopes by the entrance of the barn and drop it in the mail box. Make sure it is labeled for Intro to Cow Sorting.
